Gregor Coffaro
Gregor Coffaro is a United States Marine Corps infantry veteran and a founder of Purpose First, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting our oceans and building stronger communities. His passion for Purpose First was born during a difficult moment on deployment, when he was ordered to dispose of trash by dumping it into the ocean—an experience that opened his eyes to the global issue of marine pollution. After being honorably discharged, he committed himself to becoming part of the solution. He began to pursue an education in organizational leadership, moved to San Diego, and began hosting beach cleanup experiences that transform traditional community service into something fun, meaningful, and impactful.
Aaron Skiro
Aaron Skiro is the Vice President of Purpose First, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ocean conservation and community building. With a robust background in team leadership and culture creation, Aaron fosters collaboration and inspires positive change within the organization. His passion for ocean conservation drives their commitment to protecting marine ecosystems, fueled by hands-on experiences in coastal communities. Currently training to become a certified divemaster, Aaron brings an adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for the ocean to Purpose First, leading initiatives that make environmental stewardship engaging, inclusive, and impactful.
Timothy Matakovich
Tim Matakovich is a co-founder of Purpose First and serves as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors. Tim has a professional background in finance, operations, and management with a B.A. and M.A. in Economics. He is driven by the revolutionary idea of Purpose First and how our community is changing the status quo of community service by making an impact in a fun way that will build memories for a life-time.
